1. Object of the Classes: The Technical Institute aims at giving instruction in the subjects named in Section 2, and in others for which there may from time to time be a demand.

The Physics and Mathematics Courses cover the requirements of the University Matriculation.

The Normal Classes are for Teachers (Chinese and European)," men and women.

2. Subjects of Instruction:-Classes may be formed as required in the following subjects:-

(a) Engineering Section; Practical Mathematics, Building Construction, Field Surveying, Applied Mechanics, Machine Drawing, Steam, Physics, Electrical Engin- eering.

(b) Science Section: Physics, Chemistry (Practical and

Theoretical), Metallurgy, Hygiene.

(c) Commerce Section: Shorthand, Book-keeping, French, English (Conversation, Letter Writing and Business Correspondence), Translation (Chinese and English), Logic and Political Economy, Cookery.

(d) Teachers' Classes: English and Chinese, Pedagogy,

and English or Chinese; Physical Training.

The Syllabus is liable to alteration from time to time, as found desirable.

As a general rule, no class will be formed unless there are at least 10 entries.

In certain Classes different sections at present work together; should there be a sufficient number of students in attendance, however, arrangements will be made for these sections to work in- dependently of each other.

3. Time Table: The year's work is divided into two terms-The First Term beginning in October and ending two weeks before Chinese New Year; the Second Term beginning two weeks after Chinese New Year and ending in June.
